Honda Civic Trim Levels | Vista, CALX

The Honda Civic LX trim is the base model option in the Civic lineup. It comes outfitted with a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine that produces 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque, and is mated to the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT).

The interior features the 5-inch Color LCD display that gives access to the media options. The LX also comes standard with Honda Sensing®, which includes features like the Collision Mitigation Braking System™, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, and more!

The Civic Sport includes the previously mentioned engine and is mated to the same Continuously Variable Transmission. However, the CVT in the Civic Sport also comes with Paddle Shifters to give drivers a more hands-on performance experience. Besides this, some of the biggest differences between the Sport and the Civic LX are the interior features.

The Sport adds the 7-inch High-Resolution Electrostatic touchscreen display with customizable feature settings, as well as an 8-speaker sound system. This trim upgrade also includes crucial features for today’s driver, like Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™, and HondaLink®. The multimedia system within the Civic Sport also includes an SMS Text Message Function that makes it safer to send messages while behind the wheel.

So, if you’re looking for enhanced connection and mobile device integration, the Civic Sport could be a great option for you.

Vista, CA | Honda Civic Trim LevelsEX

The Civic EX trim brings a new engine to the Civic family that enhances power and performance. The 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo engine is able to produce 174 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. It also brings back the standard CVT, which will help optimize power distribution.

This trim includes the same interior amenities that the Sport added to the sedan. However, some new additions to the Civic with the EX is the One-Touch Power Moonroof with Tilt Feature, the Fin-Type Roof-Mounted Antenna, and the Body-Colored Decklid Spoiler. These exterior features will improve style and overall performance of the sedan.

On the inside, the EX adds Heated Front Seats for those cold winter mornings. Staying on the topic of seats, this model also adds a driver’s seat with 8-way power adjustment. This will allow you to find your ideal seating position better, perfect for a long road trip or drive down the street to the grocery store.

In terms of assistive tech, the EX also adds Honda LaneWatch™ to the assortment of Honda Sensing® features. So, your safety and comfort will be enhanced behind the wheel of the Honda Civic EX.

Honda Civic RedOn top of carrying the same turbo engine featured in the EX, the Civic EX-L adds the leather-trimmed seats for its passengers, as well as the HomeLink® Remote System and the Automatic-Dimming Rearview Mirror. It also carries over the spoiler and moonroof featured on the previous trim.

You’ll also find SiriusXM® functionality inside the Civic EX-L. This will take your multimedia experience to the next level, provided with another content-streaming option that diversifies your entertainment pool.

The Civic Touring is the highest trim in the lineup. It includes all of the high-end features added on each of the preceding Honda Civic trim levels, and incorporates a few new features. For convenience, it features Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers and LED Headlights with Auto-On/Off.

In the cabin, the Touring trim adds a few new features, as well. This includes the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ with Voice Recognition and Honda HD Digital Traffic. Also, this system comes with a Premium 10-speaker Audio System that includes a Subwoofer for top-of-the-line sound quality.

Your passenger will also feel some of the comforts of the upgrades included in the Touring trim. In addition to the Driver’s Seat with 8-Way Power Adjustment, the Civic Touring comes with a front passenger seat that features a 4-way power adjustment. So, your passenger will also be able to find their ideal seating position on your next trip.

Honda Civic Sedan vs Hatchback

Honda Civic Trim Levels

While determining your Honda Civic trim level, you’ll also want to factor in which body style you’ll want. You’ll need to weigh out the Civic Sedan vs. Hatchback to truly get the vehicle you want for your adventures on the road. There are some similarities between the Civic Sedan vs. Hatchback Civic models, but there are also some notable differences to be aware of when deciding.

Read on to learn more about some of the differences between the Civic Sedan and Civic Hatchback.

Engine Specs & Performance

The Civic sedan and hatchback have different engines. The sedan includes the 2.0L 4-cylinder that can produce 158 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque while mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission.

The Civic Hatchback, on the other hand, comes standard with a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that can boast 174 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque, and is also mated to the CVT. The Civic Hatchback also offers the option for a 6-speed manual transmission, which increases your control behind the wheel. This transmission is not available on the Civic Sedan.

Fuel Efficiency

Another area where these Civic models differ slightly is their fuel economy. The Civic Sedan base model comes ready to earn an EPA-estimated 30 city/38 highway MPG for LX and Touring trims.1 Meanwhile, the Civic Hatchback base comes ready to earn an EPA-estimated 31 city/40 highway MPG for LX & EX trims.2

While this may seem like a minute difference, it could add up. So, if you’re looking for maximum fuel efficiency within the Honda Civic family, the Civic Hatchback could be the route to pursue.

While this is the case for the Civic Sedan LX and Civic Hatchback LX, it’s not quite the case for the Sport trim levels. Further, on both the sedan and hatchback models, the Sport trim level will earn an EPA-estimated 29 city/37 highway MPG when mated with the CVT.1,2

Honda Civic TrimsInterior Dimensions & Cargo Space

The Honda Civic sedan offers its passengers 97.8 cubic feet of passenger space, while the Civic Hatchback offers 97.2 cubic feet. Both vehicles offer their front-row passengers 39.3 inches of headroom and 42.3 inches of legroom.

The rear shows the difference in space with the sedan including 37.1 inches of headroom and 37.4 inches of legroom. The Civic Hatchback reduces the rear legroom to 36.0 inches, but increases the headroom to 37.4 inches.

The biggest difference with dimensions between the Civic Sedan vs. Hatchback is with their respective cargo space. The Civic sedan includes a trunk, so the space is limited to just 15.1 cubic feet for your materials. The Civic Hatchback offers its cargo space behind the rear seats, with 25.7 cubic feet available for your storage needs.

You can also create more cargo space in both the sedan model and hatchback by folding down the rear seats. Doing so in the Civic Hatchback will afford you 46.2 cubic feet of storage space to work with. If cargo space is a priority, but you still want a relatively compact vehicle that’s highly maneuverable on crowded streets, you may want to consider the Honda Civic Hatchback.

Hatchback Trim Levels

Vista, CA | Honda Civic Trims

While there are some differences between the Civic Sedan vs. Civic Hatchback, there are some innate similarities. For example, the Civic Hatchback also offers the same trim levels with the LX, Sport, and EX.

However, the Civic Hatchback additionally offers the Sport Touring, which combines the luxuries of the Civic Sedan Touring trim, but with the performance attributes and style of the Sport trim. It includes all the updated features and technology while retaining its sporty aesthetics and features.

While this is the case, the Civic Sedan still offers more (five trim levels available) than the Civic Hatchback (four trim levels available). Further, the EX-L trim and regular Touring trim are not available on the Civic Hatchback model.
