2020 Honda CR-V vs Ford Escape

Getting around the streets of Vista, Carlsbad, and Escondido can be very adventurous when you’re behind the wheel of the right crossover. If you’re in the midst of deciding on the 2020 Honda CR-V vs. Ford Escape, you’ve got a tough choice to make.

Our team at Norm Reeves Honda Superstore Vista is here to help you! We’re going to take a closer look at the CR-V vs. Escape to give you a sense of how these vehicles differ, so you can find the one that’s best suited for you!

CR-V vs Escape Power & Performance

The Honda CR-V and the Ford Escape each come equipped with 1.5L turbocharged engines. The CR-V engine comes mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which boasts an efficient performance, while executing direct and smooth gear transitions. The Escape features the 8-speed automatic transmission.

While the engines seem similar, there’s quite a difference in their respective outputs. The CR-V is able to boast an impressive 190 horsepower. The Escape, on the other hand, falls a little behind by maxing out at 181 horsepower.

Cabin Space & Cargo Capacity

Since the CR-V and Escape fall in the crossover/midsize SUV category, you can expect some spacious cabins. However, the CR-V offers 105.9 cubic feet of passenger space, while the Escape only offers 104 cubic feet. Each vehicle offers more than 40 inches of front-row headroom and 39 inches of rear headroom, but there’s a bigger difference with the cargo area.

The Honda CR-V features 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space in back, while the Ford Escape offers a maximum of 37.5 cubic feet. When you fold the rear seats down, the CR-V offers a spacious 75.8 cubic feet of total cargo space, while the Ford Escape maxes out its cargo area at 65.4 cubic feet.

Driver-Assisting Technology Features

Both the CR-V and Escape offer their drivers some peace of mind with a few driver-assisting technology features. These vehicles both include collision-mitigation systems and lane-keeping systems that use exterior sensors to measure speed, distance, and road lines in order to know when to enact any braking systems.

The Honda CR-V, however, comes equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow. This system will automatically adjust the cruising speed in order to keep a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. The Ford Escape offers a similar feature, but only after a few upgrades.
